We know that you want a professional, safe and friendly service for your cats and dogs and at Collar and Comb Grooming we strive to bring you value for money and complete satisfaction. We believe our starting prices are very competitive and we will consult with you before any service to ensure you have no unexpected costs when you collect your pet.
We will only add a surcharge for anxious dogs if their behaviour means we must devote significant extra time to them. Also, if you have not had an opportunity to bring your pet to a groomer for a while, we will let you know in advance if we feel your pet needs additional time and attention.
Don't forget our 10% discount for all Blue Light colleagues, members of the Armed Forces, Pensioners and owners of Assistance Dogs.

This Is the ultimate treat for your dog. They will be pampered from start to finish and receive:
* A luxury bath specifically suited to their skin type and coat
* A blow dry and brush to remove any tangles from the coat
(or a de-shed for short haired breeds)
* External expression of the glands (!)
* Clipping of the hair from between the pads and the hygiene area
* Cleaning and plucking of ears (!)
* Nail clipping
* Clipping or scissoring of their coat into the
desired style or breed standard
* A small treat at the end

A Full Groom is great for your dog but not necessary every time they visit the salon. A bath and tidy is a more routine service to maintain that good look you have given them. If booking this service for your dog, they will receive:
* A thorough bath specially suited to their skin type and coat.
* A blow dry and brush out to remove any knots or tangles.
* Clipping of the hair between the pads and hygiene area.
* Cleaning and plucking of the ears (!)
* Nail clipping (!)
* Trimming of the hair over and around the eyes, mouth,
under the tail and around the paws.

This service is for dogs with a wiry, dense top coat with a softer undercoat such as Airedale Terrier, Affenpinscher, Border Terrier or Patterdale.
With such breeds the hair becomes thicker and darker as it grows, and it is necessary to remove the dead hair from the top coat by the root to keep it looking bright and vibrant. This is then followed by the Full Groom Service.

This is a fixed price service.
When your dog has its nails clipped, it gets a manicure and a pedicure all at the same time!
Most pets benefit from having their nails trimmed every four to six weeks. Ideally a dog’s nails should just be in contact with the ground however, it is important to pay attention to dew claws as these will not wear down and can curl into the pad causing a puncture wound and possible infection.

Our dogs love coming back to Collar and Comb and we love seeing them back.
Anyone who has owned or cared for a puppy will know that they find everything exciting and worth investigating. However, although ‘curiosity never killed the cat’, when dog’s have a negative experience, it is remembered and can be difficult to undo.
At Collar & Comb Grooming we will slowly introduce your puppy (or nervous older dog) to the different items of equipment we use, coaxing them with small treats at each stage to maintain a positive feeling.

If your pet is scratching, experiencing areas of hair loss, redness or irritation then they may have fleas.
Fleas are not a sign of an unclean pet or home. They are a parasite and there are many different species such as dog fleas, cat fleas or rabbit fleas. If untreated, an adult flea can lay over 1,500 eggs in a lifetime. As well as making your pet itch, fleas can cause a host of other health issues, so early intervention is essential.

If you are looking to treat your cat to a thorough grooming, then you are invited to try our Cat Care service. At your cat’s appointment we will evaluate its temperament, prepare for bathing, groom and finish each cat, which may include:
* Prepare, de-mat and groom your cat prior to bathing
* Bathe and clean your cat
* Dry and prepare their coats for styling
* Basic Styling, and * Lion trim or coat removal.
Glands

Anal glands are located under the tail on either side of the bottom and contain a foul-smelling substance that most dogs pass naturally when they have a bowel movement. However, sometimes these glands need to be expressed manually.

Your dog’s ears, especially small fluffy dogs, can be a cause of poor health if not looked after. Too much ear hair or wax will reduce air flow and promote retention of moisture. This can easily lead to parasites such as ear mites or the presentation of yeast which in turn could lead to an infection requiring veterinary support.
The inside of your dog’s ears should be a dull pink colour and free from odour. We will check your pet’s ears on each visit and advise you if we feel it needs some attention.

This may not be suitable to the temperament of all dogs.
80% of all dogs over the age of three, suffer from periodontitis, the inflammation of the gums due to tartar build-up. Caring for your dog’s gums is vital to preventing periodontitis and prolonging their health.
Our Ultrasonic toothbrush cleans the upper and lower jaw area killing bacteria and minimizing/eliminating the formation of tartar.
It provides:
* deep cleaning and tartar removal
* cleans where bristles cannot reach
* reduces gum inflammation
* no risk of anaesthesia at the vet
* cleans without movement, vibration or noise
* reduces mouth odour.

Our Price Promise
All our services range in price based on the breed, condition and temperament of your pets. The price we give you when you leave your pet is the price we will charge you. However, if we need to spend significantly more time than expected with your pet, we may need to adjust our prices the next time you visit the salon. We will always advise you at the time you book your next visit.
If your pet ‘refuses’ to be groomed and we are unable to carry out your wishes, we will charge just £5 which will be refunded next time we attempt a groom. We will discuss the best option with you at the time you collect your pet.
